BJC Open Book
Discussion
Now Fourth Wednesday of the Month
(Usually)
Upcoming Books
 | April 23 Open Book Discussion: In the Rose Garden of
the Martyrs by Christopher de Ballaigue. Please
join us on April 23 at 8 pm at BJC to discuss In the Rose
Garden of the Martyrs by Christopher de Ballaigue. The book
is a memoir of Iran that provides insights into the
uncertain contradictions of post revolutionary Iran. Leaping
backward and forward in history, the author examines 25
years of revolution, as overshadowed by centuries of
political and religious conflict. The fall of the Shah,
Khomeini's rise to power, and the shifting alliances after
his death resolve into a new kind of monarchy that, in the
opinion of de Bellaigue and those he interviews, has
betrayed the Revolution. The author is a journalist who
speaks fluent Persian and is married to an Iranian. Drop-ins
and new members are always welcome. Call (301) 946-3629 for
directions. Contact Evelyn Ganzglass (202) 966-7037 or Ruth
Rosenberg (703) 560-9525 for more information. |

meditation; experience the power and potential of this pathway
to soul healing. No prior knowledge of singing, chanting, or
