Joining BJC

Interested in becoming part of the BJC family? Here's some information on the nitty-gritty.

Synagogue Support Structure

This year, our Board of Trustees acted to enhance efforts to not have synagogues seen as fee for service organizations by changing the word "dues" to "synagogue support." The support of our synagogues and Jewish institutions is called for in the Torah, and it is in this spirit that we ask our members to contribute to the support needed to keep the synagogue active and a source of inspiration.

The current synagogue support schedule as a PDF file (Adobe Acrobat Reader required)

The congregation offers varied fees for families, individuals, couples, retirees, and single parents.

No family will be refused membership because of an inability to pay. Anyone wishing to special arrangements should contact the BJC office for referral to the appropriate Board Member.

There's No Building Fund

Because BJC does not own its own facilities, but has permanent shared sacred space, there is no building fund to which members are required to contribute. You pay only your synagogue support (and applicable religious school tuition.)

Religious School

Tuition fees are listed on the synagogue support schedule. Fees include textbooks.

Families whose children are enrolled in the mid-week/Saturday Hebrew classes pay an additional fee. (Grades 4-7)

Families new to BJC with children in the religious school will be afforded reduced tuition for the first year (does not include Hebrew class tuition.)

Fees are structured to accommodate families with more than one child enrolled.

Visits to observe or sit in on classes are welcome, Please schedule in advance by contacting the school office.
